Keeping your current phone number when switching to Lyca is straightforward using the PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) process. Simply text PAC to 65075 from your current mobile number - this is a free service mandated by Ofcom. You'll receive your PAC code within 60 seconds via text message, which remains valid for 30 days.

You can provide your PAC code during the Lyca sign-up process or add it later through your online account. Once Lyca receives your PAC, the number transfer typically completes within one working day. Keep your old SIM card active until you receive confirmation that the switch is complete - you'll know it's done when your old SIM stops working and your new Lyca SIM connects to the network with your existing number.

Fans praise the low prices and the included international minutes; critics mostly complain about customer service response times and billing issues. Lyca does reply to nearly all negative reviews, usually within a day.

Lyca uses EE's masts, so the coverage footprint is the same as EE's — but as with any virtual network (MVNO), your exact speeds depend on your location, the time of day, your handset, and how the host network manages traffic. In busy periods, MVNO traffic can be a lower priority than the host network's own customers, so it's sensible to expect good everyday speeds rather than guaranteed EE-identical performance.

In practice, 4G on EE's network is comfortably quick enough for streaming, video calls and hotspotting, and 5G — included at no extra cost — is significantly faster where available. If speed is critical for you, check EE coverage at your postcode before switching, since local signal matters far more than the brand on the SIM.
